Woolly Rhino Action Figure Preview: Coelodonta antiquitatis
Take a closer look at the Beasts of the Cenozoic Woolly Rhino action figure from Creative Beast Studio! This video preview explores the sculpt, paintwork, accessories, and articulation that bring the 1/18th scale Coelodonta antiquitatis to life.
From its interchangeable nasal horns to its articulated jaw and flexible body design, the Woolly Rhino offers plenty for prehistoric mammal collectors to explore.
Detailed Sculpting and Naturalistic Paintwork
The Woolly Rhino’s sculpt captures its powerful build and shaggy coat, with textured fur extending across the body and a pronounced mane behind the head. The preview highlights how the fur detailing creates a convincing appearance without overwhelming the figure’s overall shape.
Brown coloration covers the body and face, complemented by subtle pink accents around the mouth and inside the nostrils. Carefully painted eyes and a neatly integrated jaw opening add expression while maintaining the animal’s recognizable profile.
The video also shares a behind-the-scenes look at the paint development, explaining how David Silva and Ross collaborated to refine the head’s final appearance for production.
Internal Engineering Expands the Posing Possibilities
One of the standout features of this Woolly Rhino action figure is its internal articulation system. The preview demonstrates how a softer outer body section works around the internal structure, allowing movement while preserving the animal’s bulky silhouette.
The head and neck can lower into grazing or drinking positions, then lift into a more alert stance. Movement through the front and rear torso sections allows collectors to adjust the body’s angle and create more varied poses.
The shoulders can move upward into the body, while articulated hips, knees, ankles, and feet help support different walking and standing arrangements. Together, these features give collectors more control when setting up a prehistoric display or planning figure photography.
Interchangeable Horns, an Articulated Tongue, and More
The Woolly Rhino includes two interchangeable nasal horn options, allowing collectors to choose between a shorter horn and a dramatically longer alternative. Switching the horn changes the figure’s silhouette and provides another way to personalize its display.
The video also demonstrates several smaller articulation features that add character:
- Hinged jaw: Open and close the mouth for different expressions.
- Articulated tongue: Adjust the tongue independently inside the mouth.
- Ball-jointed ears: Change the ears’ positions to complement the pose.
- Flexible tail: A bendable wire allows additional tail positioning.
Packaging, Backdrop, and Collector Card
The unboxing reveals more than the figure itself. The packaging includes information about the animal, credits for the creative team, and a look at other figures in the assortment.
An included illustrated backdrop provides a setting for the Woolly Rhino, featuring another rhino and smaller prehistoric animals. The preview uses hyena cutouts made from the backdrop artwork to demonstrate the figure’s size.
The included collector card features artwork by Júlia d’Oliveira and a catalog photograph by Nutty_Bakaz, along with information about the species.
Woolly Rhino Size Comparisons
The preview places the Woolly Rhino beside other figures, including a 1/18th scale Smilodon and a human rider figure. These comparisons help demonstrate its substantial proportions and the impressive length of the larger horn option.
Whether you enjoy collecting prehistoric mammals, creating displays, or photographing articulated figures, the Woolly Rhino brings a distinctive combination of size, texture, and movement to the Beasts of the Cenozoic lineup.
