I just put in my preorder for Kelenken. I waited until my paycheck. Kelenken is such an awesome Terror bird. From the Livestream videos and the images. This Kelenken figure will be standout figure in my growing collection. The color scheme is perfect and definitely gives off the vibes of what a terror bird is meant to be. The Articulation that was shown in the livestream definitely gives me some ideas on how to pose Kelenken. I highly recommend if you wanting to start your BotC collection I recommend Kelenken! I rate this figure 15/10!

I pre-ordered the Kelenken as soon as it became available, but now that I finally have it in-hand, the official figure is even more impressive than the prototype images made it appear. The added size offered by the 1/12th scaling gives this beast a size and presence that rivals some of the dinosaur figures. The colourscheme flaunts a fantastic balance between striking and subtle, from the fearsome facial markings to the splashes of metallic shading atop the head, and down the back and tail.

As expected, the detail and articulation are top-notch. The wings and even the tail are able to move, providing lots of possibilities for posing. But it’s the neck and head where the articulation really shines, offering a wide range of movement – especially in the mouth, which can open at an intimidatingly wide angle that really shows off how menacing a terror bird’s beak can be.

The only downside with this figure is that – unlike most of the dinos, which can be finagled into stable poses – there’s really no way to get the Kelenken to stay upright in a natural-looking way without the stand to support it. The centre of gravity is just too far forward. But as this is a consequence of the animal’s body plan, not a failure in design, it won’t impact my rating. Overall, this is a fantastic figure, and a very welcome addition to the 1/12th line.
