As much as I admire the Utahraptors, I knew I was going to have to decide between the BOTM and Cyberzoic Achillobator giganticus for a raptor of this size and scale. The species choice and its color inspiration are so unique and so wonderfully executed that it became impossible not to acquire one.

At this scale, the figure is impressively large and carries real presence. The articulation is excellent, but what truly sets it apart is how completely it outclasses my Mattel and Hasbro raptors in every meaningful way. The scientific accuracy, the paint choices, the proportions, and the overall build quality make those mass market figures feel like entry level toys by comparison. This Achillobator captures the power and personality of a giant dromaeosaur in a way they simply cannot.

It is both menacing and majestic, and I cannot recommend it enough.

The earlier Achillobator was one of my first Creative Beasts figures, and this version is a worthy companion to the original. The new colourscheme is a bit more inviting than the black/grey of the first one, while still very much maintaining the vulture influences.

As with the other Achillobator, I’m a little disappointed in the shoulders, as they have a slightly more limited range of motion when compared to what’s seen in the 1/6th raptor line. It feels like a bit of a weird step down when the rest of the figure is an improvement in every conceivable way. But the Achillobator can still pull off a range of imposing poses, most of them without need of a stand, which is a nice bonus.
