The largest of all raptor dinosaurs, Utahraptor is also the oldest dromaeosaurid, living approximately 135 million years ago. As a highly-adapted carnivore, Utahraptor hunted larger prey such as ankylosaurs and iguanodonts. Its leg physiology supports the theory of Utahraptor as an ambush predator, unlike most other dromaeosaurs which were pursuit predators.
